Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Seams website (seams.is) and the Seams sync service (relay.seams.is) (together, the “Service”), operated by [LEGAL NAME] trading as figure.land (“Seams”, “we”, “us”). Your use of the desktop application is additionally governed by the End-User Licence Agreement. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. What Seams is

Seams is a local-first, end-to-end-encrypted tool for building ideas. Your content lives on your device and is encrypted before it syncs through our blind relay, which stores only data it cannot read.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least [AGE] and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

3. Accounts

Accounts, sign-in, sharing, and invitations are not yet available. When they launch, additional terms will apply and you will be responsible for keeping your credentials and one-time recovery key safe. Because of Seams’ end-to-end encryption, if you lose your devices and your recovery key, we cannot recover your content for you. This is a deliberate consequence of the privacy guarantees, not a defect.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • store, sync, or distribute content that is unlawful or infringes others’ rights;
  • break, overload, probe, or circumvent the Service’s security or access controls (good-faith security research is welcome);
  • use the Service to harm others or violate applicable law.

Because your content is encrypted and unreadable to us, you are solely responsible for what you store and sync and for having the right to do so. We cannot monitor or pre-screen content.

5. Your content and ownership

You retain all rights to your content; we claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the limited technical permission needed to transmit and store the encrypted form of your content so the Service can work. The Seams name, website, and software are ours and grant you no rights except as expressly stated (and, for the app, under the EULA and any applicable open-source licences).

6. Availability & beta nature

Seams is early software and is provided “as is” and “as available.” Features may change, break, or be removed. We do not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted sync, or indefinite retention of data on the relay — keep your own device as your source of truth and do not rely on the relay as your only copy.

7. Downloads & third parties

App downloads and source are hosted on GitHub and subject to GitHub’s terms. Links to third-party sites are for convenience; we are not responsible for them.

8. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, available, or that data will not be lost.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed [AMOUNT — CONFIRM]. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete the app and your local data at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or others. On request we can erase your encrypted data from the relay.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms; we will post changes here and update the date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] will have jurisdiction, without affecting mandatory consumer-protection rights where you live.
